- China Yet to Approve Request for Olympic Protests

- Chinese authorities acknowledged today (Monday) that while they have received dozens of applications to hold protests at specially designated parks during the Beijing Games, not one has been approved.
- 中國當局今天 (星期一) 承認，到目前為止，收到幾十份在北京奧運期間到特別指定公園舉行抗議活動的申請，但一份都還沒批准。
- China's official Xinhua news agency says the government has received 77 applications since the beginning of this month.

- A Public Security Bureau spokesman tells Xinhua that most of the applications were withdrawn because relevant government authorities were already addressing the complaints.

- Chinese hurdler and world champion Liu Xiang has pulled out of the Olympic men's 110-meters hurdles race because of a (right) leg injury and will not compete in front of his home fans.
