  • State TV Company Apologizes for Beijing Fire

  •   China's state-run television broadcaster CCTV has apologized for an unlicensed fireworks display that caused a huge fire in an unfinished luxury hotel next to the network's new headquarters in Beijing.

  • Shoe-Thrower Pleads Not Guilty in Britain

  •   A student protester accused of throwing a shoe at Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao during a recent visit to Britain's Cambridge University has pleaded not guilty to committing a public offense.
  • 向最近访问英国康桥大学的中国总理温家宝投掷鞋子的抗议学生对在公共场合违法不认罪。

  •   Martin Jahnke, a 27-year-old German student at Cambridge, made a brief appearance Tuesday in court, where he entered his plea and prosecutors asked for more time to gather evidence in the case.

  •   The trial was adjourned until March 10th, and Jahnke was released on bail.
