  •   Iraqi police say insurgents killed at least 43 people in a wave of bombings and attacks across the country.

  •   The deadliest attack was in a predominantly Sunni Arab neighborhood (Adhamiyah) in Baghdad, where a car bomb near an Iraqi army patrol killed 12 people. A short time later, another bomb in the area killed five more people.

  •   Relief workers on Indonesia's earthquake-battered Java island said they are running short of food, water and medical supplies, but aid is slowly arriving.
