  • Senate Continues Debate on Massive Stimulus Bill

  •   The U.S. Senate is continuing its sometimes contentious, debate on a massive economic stimulus bill supported by President Barack Obama but criticized by Republicans.
  • 美国参议院继续就一个庞大的经济刺激议案进行时而争论不休的辩论;这个计划得到欧巴马总统的支援,但却受到共和党人的批评。

  •   The top Senate Democrat, Harry Reid, urged the chamber Friday to pass the bill, saying if action is not taken, the country's recession will last for many more years.

  • US Economy Loses 598-thousand More Jobs

  •   The U.S. economy posted the largest job loss in decades in January, while the unemployment rate rose sharply.

  •   The world's largest economy had a net loss of 598-thousand jobs as the recession hammered the factory and construction sectors.

  •   Friday's report from the Labor Department says unemployment in January hit seven-point-six percent . That is four-tenths of a percent worse than the previous month and the worst level in 16 years.
