  • US Says Taiwan's Interests Were Protected in US-China Summit
  • 美國說美中峰會中臺灣利益得到保障
  •   Raymond Burghardt, the United States' chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan has assured officials in Taipei that their interests were not compromised during last week's state visit to Washington by Chinese President Hu Jintao.
  • 美國在臺協會理事主席薄瑞光對臺北的官員保證,在中國國家主席胡錦濤上個星期對華盛頓進行國事訪問期間,美方沒有在臺灣的利益上向中方做出妥協。

  •   Raymond Burghardt told reporters Tuesday that a joint statement issued during the summit was "purposefully constructed" so that it "in no way breaks any new ground on any issues that would be a concern to Taiwan."

  •   Russian leaders have vowed to avenge the suicide bombing at Moscow's biggest airport Monday that killed 35 people and injured at least 110 others.

  •   President Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday that those responsible for the attack at the crowded Domodedovo airport "must be liquidated."

  •   Prime Minister Vladimir Putin stated that "retribution is inevitable."
