- Taiwan Court Extends Detention of Former President

- Taiwan's High Court has ordered former President Chen Shui-bian to be held in custody for another two months as he appeals his bribery conviction.
- 台灣高等法院下令，前總統陳水扁在其受賄罪判決上訴期間將繼續被關押兩個月。
- Chen was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted in September 2008 of embezzling state funds, laundering money, accepting bribes and committing forgery.

- The court announced Monday that the former president will remain in custody while the appeal is being considered saying that if released, he may flee the country.
